WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a file created by a website that contains small amounts of data that is sent between a sender and a receiver. In the case of the Internet, the sender would be the server where the web page is hosted and the receiver is the browser you use to visit any web page. These cookies can have basic purposes, such as knowing when was the last time the user entered the web page for the last time; or more complex issues such as saving the items in the shopping cart.

TYPES OF COOKIES

DEPENDING ON THE PURPOSE
Technical cookies: are those that allow the user to navigate through a web page, platform or application and the use of the different options or services that exist in it.
Analytical cookies: are those that allow monitoring as well as analysis of the behavior of the users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected by this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of websites.
Advertising cookies: are those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of the advertising spaces that, where appropriate, the editor has included in a web page, application or platform from which the requested service is provided based on criteria such as the edited content or the frequency at which ads are displayed.
Social cookies: they are established by the different social network platforms to allow you to share content within them. Thanks to the use of these cookies, social platforms are able to track your activity outside of their own Services.
DEPENDING ON OWNERSHIP
First party cookies: are those that are sent to the visitor’s computer from a computer or domain managed by the person responsible for providing the service requested by the user.
Third-party cookies: are those that cookies are sent to the user’s computer from a computer or domain that is not managed by the person in charge that provides the service requested by the user but by another external entity.
DEPENDING ON THE CONSERVATION PERIOD
Session cookies: are those cookies designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page that expire when said user exits the browser.
Persistent cookies: are those cookies in which the data is still stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed during a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.
